The soundtrack of the ’90s and early 2000s came alive on Saturday as thousands of Nairobi revellers converged at Ngong Racecourse for another edition of the highly anticipated Millennials Cookout, a celebration of music, food, fashion and shared memories.

From cowboy hats and denim outfits to timeless Kenyan hits and sizzling nyama choma, the event transformed the racecourse into a vibrant festival celebrating the generation raised on classical music, unforgettable trends, and authentic experiences.

Rodeo Chic Theme Steals the Show

This year’s edition embraced a Rodeo Chic theme, with attendees going all out in western-inspired fashion.

Cowboy boots, fringe jackets, denim ensembles and stylish hats dominated the venue as guests embraced the dress code, creating one of the event’s biggest talking points and turning the grounds into a colourful fashion showcase.

The themed experience added to the festival atmosphere, with revellers posing for photos and fully immersing themselves in the day’s activities.

Food Lovers Were Spoilt for Choice

Beyond the music and fashion, Millennials Cookout lived up to its reputation as one of Nairobi’s premier food festivals.

Guests enjoyed an extensive culinary experience featuring:

Nyama choma and pork barbecue

Street food favourites

Grilled delicacies

Local cuisines

Refreshing cocktails and beverages

Interactive food experiences ensured there was something for every palate throughout the day.

Surprise Performances Spark Massive Sing-Alongs

Music remained the heartbeat of the event as DJs kept thousands dancing with carefully curated throwback playlists packed with ’90s and early 2000s classics.

The biggest surprise of the day came when Kenyan music legends Jua Cali and Mr. Lenny made unexpected appearances on stage.

Jua Cali thrilled fans with a performance of his iconic hit Kiasi, while Mr. Lenny transported the audience back in time with his timeless classic Kwaheri.

The surprise performances triggered massive sing-alongs and became one of the day’s standout moments.

Organisers Celebrate Growing Cultural Movement

Speaking after the event, Dickson Matata, Co-Founder of Millennials Cookout, said the experience has evolved into much more than a social gathering.

“Millennials Cookout was born out of a simple idea to create a space where our generation could reconnect with the things that shaped us.”

He added that this year’s edition successfully brought together nostalgia, fashion, food, and music while creating new memories for thousands of attendees.

“From the overwhelming embrace of the Rodeo Chic theme to the amazing culinary experience, the surprise performances and the energy from thousands of guests, it was a powerful reminder that experiences rooted in culture and nostalgia continue to bring people together.”

A Celebration of Millennial Culture

With nostalgic games, immersive experiences, live entertainment and diverse cuisines, the latest edition reinforced Millennials Cookout’s position as one of Kenya’s leading lifestyle events.

By blending classical music with modern experiences, the festival continues to attract thousands of young professionals and entertainment lovers looking to reconnect with the moments that defined their generation.

Following another successful turnout, organisers say they are already looking ahead to an even bigger edition.
