Kenyan filmmaker and television producer Grace Kahaki has achieved yet another remarkable milestone in her illustrious career after being selected to serve as a juror for the 2026 International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Awards, popularly known as the International Emmy Awards.
The appointment places Kahaki among a distinguished group of television professionals from across the globe tasked with evaluating some of the finest television productions created outside the United States.
Her selection also marks a significant moment for Kenya’s creative industry, reinforcing the growing recognition of African talent on the international stage.
Kahaki, who co-leads Insignia Productions alongside acclaimed filmmaker Philippe Bresson, expressed gratitude and pride at being chosen for the prestigious role.
“Deeply honoured to be selected as a juror for the 2026 International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Awards,” she said.
“It means a great deal to have my voice recognized and included among industry professionals shaping conversations around excellence in global television. It’s a reminder that African storytellers continue to have an important voice on the world stage.”

Her appointment adds to a growing list of Kenyan creatives who have been entrusted with the responsibility of judging global television excellence. She joins documentary filmmaker King Muriuki, who served as an Emmy juror in 2026, and celebrated actor Paul Ogola, who was selected for the role in 2022.
For Kenya’s film and television sector, Kahaki’s inclusion is more than a personal achievement. It represents the increasing influence of African storytelling in shaping global entertainment conversations and reflects the international industry’s growing appreciation for stories emerging from the continent.
A Global Recognition for African Voices
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is widely regarded as one of the most influential organisations in global television. Through the International Emmy Awards, the academy recognises outstanding television programming produced outside the United States and celebrates creative excellence from diverse cultures and regions.
Its jury process brings together experienced professionals from across the television industry to evaluate and select exceptional productions from around the world.
For Kahaki, being invited to participate in this process is a recognition of her expertise, achievements and contribution to television storytelling. It also underscores the growing prominence of African creatives in shaping international entertainment standards.
As Kenya continues to produce world-class filmmakers, actors and producers, Kahaki’s appointment serves as an inspiration for the next generation of storytellers and a reminder that local stories can command global attention.
Her journey from award-winning producer and director to International Emmy juror reflects not only personal success but also the rising stature of Kenya’s creative industry on the world stage.
With African stories increasingly finding audiences beyond the continent, Grace Kahaki’s latest achievement signals a future where Kenyan voices continue to influence global television and redefine what excellence in storytelling looks like.
